SPARC-HIV NJ 2025-26

Program Overview

The SPARC-HIV NJ initiative aims to create a proven model for public health detailing focusing on HIV prevention and care. Additionally, it will be designed to be easily replicated in healthcare settings in New Jersey that are not currently following CDC guidelines for routine HIV screening. This initiative will implement sustainable changes in primary care practices that result in improved outcomes for patients being screened for HIV through identification of physician and patient barriers. The intervention is expected to result in increased screening for PrEP eligibility and HIV testing, referrals to specialty and supportive services, and uptake of PrEP and antiretroviral medications.

Program Objectives

  1. Decrease in HIV-related stigma in the healthcare setting.
  2. Increase in number of patients aged 13 and older screened for HIV.
  3. Increase in number of prescriptions for PrEP (Pre-exposure prophylaxis for HIV prevention)
  4. Increase in number of people testing positive for HIV linked to care/starting antiretroviral therapy within 30 days
  5. Increase in number of referrals for HIV-related supportive services.
